Triple Crown Services (TCS) began in 1986 with a bold idea: use RoadRailer® technology to deliver truckload service with rail-like efficiency. Operating between auto plants and suppliers in Detroit and St. Louis, TCS quickly filled a niche in logistics—offering highway-like service at rail-like rates. The RoadRailer® trailers, which functioned as both road trailers and rail cars, became a symbol of our commitment to innovation and adaptability.


Thoroughbred Direct Intermodal Services (TDIS), also a Norfolk Southern subsidiary, later emerged with a strong reputation for tailored door-to-door brokerage solutions. Serving third-party logistics companies, steamship lines, and trucking firms, TDIS focused on flexible, customer-driven intermodal services that helped shippers navigate complex distribution challenges with confidence.

Growth, transformation, and legacy…
As demand grew, TCS expanded its network and service offerings, earning recognition for reliability, responsiveness, and value. In August 2024, we retired our RoadRailer® fleet, closing a remarkable chapter in our history. Their legacy lives on in the spirit of ingenuity that continues to drive us forward.
